So picture the moment I emancipated, with all my books, my clothes, my computer, games, you know, all my stuff had to be gone from mom's house because she herself was moving to another town too.
But I took something else, I asked her, she was going to throw them away, I couldn't let her! So I took this loot:
Yes, it's all her tapes, original and not, even from the time when piracy was normal, when kids made mix tapes for their friends and loved ones. I even have one that includes some love songs from a long lost prince charming? These are pieces of history!! I couldn't just allow my mother to throw them out just because at some point we lost our walkman. Right?
So I bought it!!
I've been looking for the moment to grasp one of these. It's actually a full portable radio and tape reader/recorder, it was cheap enough, reviews vary, I just hope it won't break, but it shouldn't happen, it's not gonna leave my house, at least for now... I do want to experiment with recording music on tapes tho, I will buy a jack-jack cable to try, but I need more money for it (good moment to remind you guys I'm Open for Commissions on my vGen). I might also try and think of some analog horror story to narrate (all the Magnus Archives fans here). Dunno, I am excited to play around with this.
I for now I'm listening to all the tapes, retrieving all my childhood moments where mom put these on the car, or while we were in full cleaning mode at home. I've had a troublesome childhood and adolescence, but I can't relate any bad memories to listening to the tapes. The music in them is iconinc and always happy for me.
Do you have any tapes around? Do you relate them to any childhood memory?

I haven't seen a walkman in ages, it's like seeing an old friend.

It sounds really good!! It's not studio quality but I kind of expected that!
